Completion of renovations and new construction in 2022

Over several years innovations have been underway to adapt the infrastructure to current requirements and to offer guests more comfort. In autumn 2022, the work on the extension on the former terrace was completed. A solar system was installed on the roof and a lift was installed inside the house. The Rössli is now completely wheelchair accessible.

Here, too, the Widmer family attaches great importance to the topic of sustainability. Care is taken to support local businesses whenever possible. The conversion was completed with local construction companies and newly bought material - for example mattresses or duvets for the new rooms - were all sourced locally.

The down-to-earth hotel deliberately refrains from installing an energy-sucking wellness facility, especially since the sports center in Gstaad offers a generous wellness area. As there is limited parking around the property, guests are encouraged to use public transport.

Accessability

A lift ensures that the whole house is wheelchair accessible. At the Posthotel Rössli, however, the understanding of inclusion goes further: Everyone is welcome here - with or without additional needs, with small children or pets.

In addition to the view of Wispile and Oldenhorn, the wheelchair-accessible room offers enough space to move around freely. The bathroom is equipped with appropriate facilities and tools.

Families of 4 to 5 people feel at home in the family room with separate bedrooms and a small living area.

Energy

The Posthotel Rössli is connected to the Saanen district heating system and since summer 2022 around a quarter of its energy consumption can be covered by the newly installed solar system on the hotel roof.

Facts about the solar system:

Area: 180m2

Power: 33 kWp

Annual production: approx. 30,000 kWh (corresponds to approx. 8 four-person households)

Consumption covered: approx. ¼ of annual consumption

In the kitchen

The Posthotel Rössli has been working with the No Food Waste Organisation Foodways for several years. Measurements are taken on an ongoing basis and the portions and purchase quantities are optimised so that as little food as possible has to be thrown away. Any waste that is generated will be disposed of properly.

When shopping, it is also important to shop locally where possible. The Rössli obtains a large part of its groceries from regional partners such as Buure Metzg, local farmers or the Gstaad dairy.
